Individual Counseling
Hope and Empowerment for Women & Mothers
We know that taking that first step towards healing takes courage.
Wollemi Counseling welcomes individuals wherever they are, believing that good therapy involves seeing each of our clients as unique- with their own stories, strengths, and journeys. It is our passion to help women and mothers find themselves again, to live their lives authentically, and to truly value themselves just as they are.
We offer in person appointments at our Westlake and Chardon offices, and virtual appointments.
Our therapists specialize in women's mental health and perinatal mental health. This includes anxiety, depression, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders such as postpartum depression/anxiety, life transitions, parenting, motherhood, obsessive compulsive issues, and relationship issues.
What will sessions be like?
During the initial session we will ask questions about your bio-psychosocial history such as: previous mental health issues, presenting issues, physical health, core relationships, and current symptoms of distress. You may refuse to answer any questions you are not yet comfortable sharing.
At our second session we will present a treatment plan to you, which will be our road map in therapy. You can agree or disagree with any part of the treatment plan, and we will work together to ensure that you are happy with the final plan.
Sessions following will address your symptoms with education and interventions guided by our treatment goals. We will focus on building our relationship and allowing you to process current concerns. It is of the utmost importance to us that you feel safe, comfortable, and empowered throughout the counseling process.
How long do sessions last?
The initial assessment session may run to 90 minutes in length to be able to obtain enough information to provide a quality evaluation. Sessions thereafter are 55 minutes in length.
Do you accept insurance?
We are currently in network with Aetna, Medical Mutual and Cigna Insurances. If you have a different insurance plan you may be eligible, through your insurance company, to be reimbursed for services through out of network benefits. Your insurance company may reimburse you for a portion of services or in full after we provide you a "superbill." It is your responsibility to ensure that you are aware of the status of your out of network benefits prior to beginning services. We are happy to speak with you about specific questions you may need answers to when inquiring about coverage to your insurance company. You may also be able to pay for services with your Health Savings Account (HSA).
Payment or co-payments can be made via credit card, cash, or check. You may use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexibile Spending Account (FSA) to make payments as well. We will provide receipts or can complete the appropriate paperwork if you will be using an HSA/FSA account.

Are you culturally competent?
Yes. As both social workers and counselors, we believe it is our ethical obligation to offer services that are inclusive to all, and to be aware of how one's mental health may be impacted by systems of discrimination, inequality, inequity, and oppression. We are on a continued journey of understanding of privilege and power, and as such remain open to learning. We also believe that the client is the expert on how their cultural identity impacts their sense of self and how they make decisions in their own lives.
