Service Description

Motherhood comes with a seemingly endless list of things to feel guilty about. Working too much. Not working enough. Losing your patience. Wanting time away. Not playing enough. Too much screen time. The store-bought snacks. The missed school event. Not loving every minute. Wondering if everyone else is somehow doing this better than you. But what if maternal guilt isn’t proof that you’re doing motherhood wrong? What if some of it is the predictable result of trying to mother inside a culture that expects women to give endlessly, parent perfectly, carry the invisible load, maintain careers and relationships, create magical childhoods—and somehow do all of it with gratitude? Motherhood Unfiltered: Maternal Guilt is a two-hour workshop that takes an honest, feminist look at the guilt so many mothers carry. We’ll explore where maternal guilt actually comes from, the difference between guilt that helps us live according to our values and guilt rooted in impossible expectations, and how gender roles, intensive parenting culture, social media, and the myth of the “good mother” shape the standards we hold ourselves to. We’ll also talk about something that often hides underneath guilt: **grief.** The grief of not having enough time, energy, money, support, patience, or capacity to be everything we wish we could be for our children—and how learning to make room for that grief can sometimes be more healing than trying to convince ourselves we “shouldn’t feel guilty.” This isn’t a workshop about becoming a better mother. It’s about questioning who decided what a “good mother” was supposed to look like in the first place and releasing the unnecessary weight of the societal driven guilt we feel forced to carry. Come ready for reflection, conversation, validation, and maybe a little dismantling of the patriarchy along the way.
